Aditi’s day job is enabling technology for clients, but her positive impact goes way beyond that - from supporting Women in Technology, to steering Consulting’s take on the Deloitte Black Action Plan.
Why did you choose Deloitte?
I always wanted to work in Consulting – what could be a better place? It was the Deloitte brand and the variety of opportunities the firm offers that I found really attractive.
Did your view of the firm change at all when you started?
Well, the firm is indeed huge and there are certainly a lot of opportunities to learn and shape your career. I did think I might come across many people in suits, working on PowerPoint day-in-day-out, but it turns out there’s a lot more to Consulting than that. Actually, the biggest surprise – and the firm’s biggest asset – is the kind of colleagues you get to work with. I was slightly worried about the kind of leaders I’d find at such a massive firm, but the open leadership and growth opportunities have truly amazed me.
Are you involved in anything at Deloitte, beyond your day job?
I lead our Women in Consulting network. It’s an inclusive network, open to all genders, and focused on our female practitioners. We connect for networking, collaboration, learning and development, and inclusion. For example, we’ve had multiple sessions to talk openly about unconscious bias, balancing career, and navigating differences as women of colour, as well as Partners talking about their journey and resilience.
I am an Inclusion lead for my business area, Enterprise Technology & Performance (ETP); I’ve been an inclusion ambassador, and a vocal person for diversity and inclusion. I am also sponsorship lead for our Moving With Impact Plan, which is our Consulting-focused, firm-wide-aligned, Black Action Plan.
How would you explain your job in three words?
I solve problems.
What’s the best thing about your job?
I love working across such a variety of clients and interacting with my brilliant peers.
And the most challenging?
Being a female lead in any arena can be challenging. I work in a very technology-focused team, ETP-SAP, which is usually disproportionately male. However, I feel fully supported by my brilliant colleagues and we’re certainly working on the gender balance here. Also, the Technology (SAP S4 HANA) is constantly changing, and you have to stay on top of all the updates!
