The support she received after her career break helped Aga find the perfect balance between life as a mother and her role as a Manager in Financial Advisory.
What are you responsible for in your role?
Following a career break, I returned to my job via Deloitte’s Return to Work supported hiring programme. My work involves making sure our clients are taking the right steps to address their financial and operational problems, improving performance and maximising value – all at an accelerated pace. We’re very fast and work mainly with senior managers to deliver hands-on support, implementing quick wins on the spot.
We work in a very innovative space with facilities like a meditation room, great coffee places and different spots to have a catch up. It’s all well designed and very comfortable to work in. It also means I often start my day here with a shower after cycling in to keep my physical and mental health in good shape.
What’s a typical day like for you?
As operational and financial specialists in turnaround management, cost reduction, cash management, working capital improvement, and change management, the work itself is varied. We provide our clients with deep knowledge and experience across sectors such as business services, consumer business, retail, infrastructure, media, technology, telecoms, and manufacturing.
What was your most memorable moment on the job so far?
I’ve done lots of training here, including working towards the CIMA qualification which Deloitte supports me with. The project I’m probably most proud of though was the one I joined from day one of my induction. I wasn’t prepared at first, but I had constant support from my team, so I learnt fast and did really well.
What’s the best part of your job and in what ways is your team innovative?
I have a natural drive to solve other people’s problems and that makes me really happy. I also love making new friends, working together and facing new challenges – all things I’m able to do here. We also apply the latest trends, technologies and analytical tools to provide clients with innovative solutions to their most complex issues.
Why would you recommend Deloitte to someone?
The respect and inclusion culture, of which I’m a great example. Return to Work supported hiring was created for people like me to feel included again. I feel supported and respected.
Work life balance isn’t just a theory here. It’s brought to life. People appreciate I have kids. They try to help with flexible hours, and respect that I can’t always stay longer. Working a day from home makes a huge difference too.
Also, in my spare time I do yoga and have fun with friends, as well as take part in various women’s, working parents’ and multicultural networks. I even went on a Deloitte sailing trip and am going skiing with my team too.
