Starting off in the Home Office set Kinga up perfectly for her future. After working for the Home Office for a number of years, where she made great friends and learned about the significance of immigration on people and businesses, she decided she was ready for a new challenge and joined Deloitte.
How did you join Deloitte?
After working at one of the big 4 firms for nearly 3 years, I decided to venture out and join Deloitte. I made the move in July 2018 and joined the Manchester practice as a consultant, with the purpose of building our Immigration Hub in the North.
What made you pursue a career in your field?
I’ve always been interested in the immigration and global mobility field. At the University of Edinburgh, I studied Social Anthropology with Politics of Immigration in the European Union, where I developed an understanding of key immigration concepts and their social implications. After I graduated, I worked in the Home Office for a number of years where I learned about the significance of immigration regarding ordinary people and businesses. I then decided to pursue my career working for a private firm, starting my journey in the corporate world.
What do you like best about working for Deloitte?
Deloitte has a lot to offer, from wide-ranging professional opportunities to personal growth. Most importantly for me, the Mobility practice in Manchester is run by a group of amazing individuals who take pride in working for Deloitte. Their actions and attitude encourage others to invest in their professional and personal growth.
What was your most memorable moment?
It’s hard to just pick one, so here are my top three memorable moments. Firstly, I attended a Japanese dinner party with our Japanese partners. Secondly, I assisted with the Brexit seminar. And lastly, I completed the Miles for Refugees Challenge in Iceland.
What were your key motivational drivers in 2018? How did your creativity help you to overcome the challenges experienced at work?
As individuals, we need to invest in ourselves by attending various courses, doing physical exercise, and any other creative things that make us happy. I personally became interested in technology and coding. I have attended various courses and knowing that Deloitte is a firm that invests heavily in digitalisation, I have expressed my interest in volunteering for various technological opportunities. I'm also the proud owner of a small, fluffy Maltese who always helps me to overcome challenges.
