In 2015 Nicholas took the step from a medium-sized audit firm in Cape Town to join one of the largest companies in the world as a Manager in our Audit & Assurance team. A life-changing decision that really got his career moving. Tatiana’s life was changing, and so her work life had to change too. So she followed her gut, and moved down to Guernsey.

How did you join Deloitte?

My personal commitments changed, and I already have friends living in Guernsey, so I decided why not move to a beautiful island and look for further career development? Working with well-known clients and a better work-life balance in a less stressed environment is all I ever wanted, and now I have that.

What are you responsible for in your role?

I’m responsible for day to day management of audit engagements including some non-audit clients as well (the Guernsey office has quite an extensive base of assurance jobs too), as well as developing teams and communication with Deloitte offices across UK, Europe and Overseas.

What is your most memorable moment on the job so far?

My most memorable moment is attending the welcome event in London where I met lots of new people, as well as travelling to London for some client work. I have only been working at Deloitte for five months now, so I believe the most exciting things are yet to come. I'm also looking forward to the trip to Herm Island in the summer, where we celebrate the end of our busy season.

How did you join Deloitte?

I joined Deloitte Guernsey in June 2015 from a medium-sized audit firm in Cape Town, South Africa.

What are you responsible for in your role?

Since joining Deloitte, I have been working on some of our key audit engagements including managing Deloitte’s largest offshore engagement. My main specialism is listed funds, private equity and local fiduciary audits as well as advisory services.

What is your most memorable moment on the job so far?

Within my first two years with Deloitte I was recognized for my hard work and performance and was promoted from an Assistant Manager to Manager to Senior Manager… quite an achievement over such a short period of time.

How are you supported to work flexibly?

I enjoy having the opportunity to work remotely or to work flexible hours when life decides to throw me a curve ball.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Since moving to Guernsey I have become a keen road biking enthusiast, completing the 189 mile London Revolution 2018.
