How did you join Deloitte?

I applied for Deloitte after my sister completed the Summer Vacation Scheme in 2016. I joined in September 2017.

What are you responsible for in your role?

I am responsible for a multitude of things, including: billing, overseeing private clients, organising internal/external meetings, supporting the team on client projects and making sure the everyday jobs on engagements are completed.

What’s a typical day like for you?

I begin by checking through emails and prioritising my task list so that I can address the most pressing concerns. I may have different internal/external meetings that I need to attend, as well as training sessions to improve my technical knowledge. Throughout the day I am also ticking off tasks that I need to get done so that I know by the end of the day, I am happy that I have completed all that I have set out to do.

What was your most memorable moment on the job so far?

The most memorable moment for me was going to the Director Day in November 2017. The main message I took from this was that the director group don’t get told anything different than the lower grades, and this reiterates the fact that we have one clear goal to work towards.

What’s the best part of your job and in what ways is your team innovative?

Ultimately, the people are the best part about work. There are people from all around the world in one team, and everyone brings something different. You get to work with people who give honest/constructive feedback, and that really allows you to improve professionally in the early stages of your career.

Why would you recommend Deloitte to someone?

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Deloitte as they allow you to choose your own career path. When you work for Deloitte, there are so many avenues you can go down.

How are you supported to work flexibly?

Being junior and balancing work/exams, we are encouraged to work from home in order to facilitate our studies. As I don’t live in London, I take advantage of this privilege.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I am an avid sports fan and follow a lot of football, golf, cricket and boxing.
