What are you responsible for in your role?
Working here gives you the opportunity to be responsible for important tasks early on, for example I have been entrusted with setting up the engagement for a new project as well gathering and processing data for client acquisition targets. The support I receive helps me carry out my job confidently.
What’s a typical day like for you?
The day usually begins with an informal chat with my manager, we discuss where things are and plan the day ahead. Then it’s time for some independent work with regular communication with my team. It’s reassuring to know that if I ever need help, I can reach out to the people around me. And when it’s time for a break I can head up to the 12th floor to catch up with my colleagues over game of ping pong or FIFA.
What was your most memorable moment on the job so far?
Impressing my manager with my work on the take on process for a new project. My hard work was rewarded and I was invited to join the project on a full-time basis. It was rewarding to see the project through from beginning to end.
What’s the best part of your job and what makes your team innovative?
The people. There is a close-knit culture here. I can reach out to anyone for help, both for personal and professional reasons. The informal team breakfast we have every fortnight really helps the team develop strong relationship with each other.
Why would you recommend Deloitte to someone?
What makes Deloitte different is the culture. There is a unique combination of a high performance yet comfortable environment. It’s the perfect place to feel at ease to perform at my best.
Does the flexibility of the role help with your development?
If I ever need to take a study day or work from home, it’s never an issue. I just need to have a quick chat with my manager and it’s all signed off.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Away from work I love travelling to new places, playing football and a going to rock and metal gigs. There’s a really good work life balance here, so I’ve got plenty of time to enjoy myself outside of the office too.
